Standing on God's Promises
Has someone ever made a promise to you, but failed to keep it?  Have you ever broken a promise you made to another?  Despite our best intentions, because of sin, we are frequently promise breakers.  We often fail to keep our word to others.  As Christians, we know that God is not a promise breaker, but a promise keeper.  The Bible tells us that not one of God's promises has been broken.  God keeps His promises.  We rely on them.  We trust them.  We know that God will do what He has promised us.  God's Word is filled with promises for us.  God promises to love us (John 3: 16).  He promises to forgive us (1 John 1:9).  He will lead us and guide us (Psalm 32:8).  God will stay close to us (Matthew 28:20).  God's most special promise was fulfilled when He sent Jesus to save us from our sinfulness.  Jesus' perfect life, death and resurrection bring us forgiveness of sins and the certainty of eternal life with Him in heaven.  This year, Mt. Calvary faculty and students will often be reminded about the importance of "Standing on God's Promises" as well as drawing on the Holy Spirit to keep us faithful in the promises we make.  Praise God that we have Jesus who is the ultimate promise keeper!
