Crumbs from the Table

The woman's daughter was "severely oppressed" by a demon. She was desperate. She needed help for herself and respite for her daughter who was being tortured by the demon. As He came into her presence, she recognized Jesus as the "Lord," the "Son of David." With that recognition there was also faith...faith strong enough to beg even for the "crumbs that fall from (the) masters' table." What a faith! To recognize that even the "crumbs" from Jesus' table are enough to satisfy a hungry spirit. In our weak and fallen faith we don't deserve even the crumbs from Jesus' table. But the nature of our loving God is always to give far more than we could ever hope for or even expect. That's what Sunday worship is all about: We come into God's house as beggars looking for crumbs, and we leave with the abundance of full forgiveness and a satisfied spirit. Pray that all the members of Mt. Calvary would recognize the abundance of God's grace and reach out to the lost! Bring others to Sunday morning worship at Mt. Calvary so that they will be filled to the full! Tell others about Jesus, who gives exceedingly more than we deserve! |
