BRINGING Hope to the Heart of the City!
By Pastor Eggebrecht @ 2:46 PM :: 209 Views :: Pastors Message

Our summer sermon series continues this Sunday! It is entitled: "Bringing Hope to the Heart of the City: Pray, Bring, Tell." The emphasis for this Sunday's sermon will be "Bringing."

A recent study done by LifeWay Research shows an interesting and applicable result for Mt. Calvary. The study shows that African Americans are far more open than other ethnic groups to receiving information from local congregations. It has been Mt. Calvary's goal for many years now to be a church that reflects the diversity of our community.

"The church has been the only institution we African-Americans have had throughout our history that we could trust and depend on," said Tyrone Barnette, pastor of Peace Baptist Church in Decatur, Ga. "The church educated our children, fed our families, listened to our pain, married and buried our loved ones.... Throughout the years the positive perception of the church has been passed from generation to generation."

Even if you don't have African American friends or neighbors, we have a school filled with African American neighbors of MT. CALVARY! Get involved in and with our school this coming school year. Meet new people. Volunteer together. And then...BRING! People are far more open than you may realize!

Pray for Mt. Calvary, that each of us would weekly attempt to bring a friend or neighbor to church! Bring others to church at Mt. Calvary, where they will be shown the love of God's people and be given the gift of God's love! Tell others about the Savior who brings us into a renewed and restored relationship with Him!
