I Am the Bread of Life

Thankfully, not many...if any...of us reading this ever have to go hungry. How awful it must be to get beyond the point of hunger pangs, to the point of starvation. It is a terrible type of human suffering.
But there is a form of starvation that is much worse. When we cut ourselves off from God's Word, from the fellowship of His people, from communication with Him through prayer, our souls become starved and our very spiritual lives are endangered. We need the food that feeds our soul. It is a life or death proposition!
In Sunday's Gospel Lesson Jesus says, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." Sometimes we want Jesus to fill our "hunger" in very specific ways. But we don't always know what it is that would be best for us. It doesn't matter what Jesus does for us...it matters most who He IS for us! He is our Savior, who feeds our hungry souls with the food of forgiveness, life, and salvation.
Pray for Mt. Calvary, that each of us would daily and weekly receive the Bread of Life! Bring others to church at Mt. Calvary, where they will find food for their souls! Tell others about Jesus, who IS the Bread of Life! |
