Happy Birthday, Church! That's what we'll celebrate on Sunday when we come together for Pentecost worship. Just like a personal birthday party, our church will be decorated with balloons and banners, there will be joy and singing, and there will be candles! Lots of candles!

Sunday we get to celebrate the fact that God's Holy Spirit comes to us in mighty and special ways through the ordinary means of water and Word, bread and wine. Where Holy Baptism and the Lord's Supper are going on, there you will find the church...and you will receive all kinds of gifts!

Sunday is not only the church's birthday. It's also going to be the Baptism birthday of a significant number of children from our school. God's Spirit will come down to give forgiveness, faith, and life to all those who are baptized. And just like that first Pentecost Sunday, there will be tongues of fire...as baptismal candles are lit.

So come to church on Sunday ready to celebreate. Wear red in honor of this special day. Receive God's gifts...and rejoice!

Pray for Mt. Calvary, that each and every member would regularly receive the gracious gifts of the Holy Spirit! Bring others to church this Pentecost Sunday, where they will see the Holy Spirit at work! Tell others about the Savior who never leaves us helpless, but sends us the ever-present gift of His Spirit!
