Waiting on God

Waiting isn't always what we want to do. The other day my hand had an unpleasant encounter with a knife, and I ended up in the "waiting room" of the walk-in clinic where I had to... (you guessed it!) ...wait! The gauze on my hand was getting ever more soaked with blood, and I needed stitches as quickly as possible to stop the bleeding and begin the healing. I was impatient as I was waiting. I wanted help...and I wanted it NOW! It is often difficult for us Christians to wait on God. We want God to do things, and we want Him to do them NOW! We'd rather have God follow our timetable than having always to follow His. But God has the time and God has the plan. In the "fullness of time" He sent His Son, to live for us, to die for us, to rise again for us. And God is patient, delaying the final judgment, because He wants and desires as many as possible to be saved. He is waiting for that friend of yours, or that neighbor of yours, or that family member of yours to come to faith and the full knowledge of Jesus as Savior and Lord. And maybe He's waiting for you to be the instrument through whom that saving faith will be spoken, delivered, and given. Come to church this Sunday and hear more about our patient God. Pray that Mt. Calvary would be patient in waiting on the Lord! Bring others to Sunday morning worship at Mt. Calvary so that they realize the time is NOW for all people to be saved! Tell others about our loving, forgiving, and patient God! |
