Rooted in Scripture, Empowered for Mission
By Pastor Eggebrecht @ 11:02 AM :: 298 Views :: Pastors Message

"Then (Jesus) opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, 'Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.'" (Luke 24:46-47)

At the end of His earthly ministry, Jesus encourages His disciples to be rooted in Scripture and active in Mission. He has been crucified, and has risen again to enable and empower them to do just that. In these last moments He has before He is no longer bodily present, He tells His disciples that which is most important: Scripture and Mission.

The book of Luke ends just like it begins: in the Temple. Our week ends just like it begins: in our church. It is there that we receive from Jesus all that we need as we find ourselves rooted in Scripture and empowered for Mission.

Pray for Mt. Calvary, that all members would be rooted in Scripture and active in Mission! Bring others to worship at Mt. Calvary, where they will be rooted in Scripture as a result of YOUR MIssion! Tell others about a Savior who lives in the Scripture and whose Mission is to love and forgive!
