An Angry Jesus?
By Pastor Eggebrecht @ 1:32 PM :: 297 Views :: Pastors Message

On Sunday we will encounter an "angry" Jesus. But please don't let that keep you from coming to church.

The Gospel lesson for this Sunday is Jesus driving the "money changers" out of the temple in Jerusalem. He is angry because God's house, the center of all of Israel's worship, has become a place of corruption, a place of shame, an absolute disgrace.

Jesus obviously doesn't like it when a place of worship becomes corrupted by evil and selfish concerns. It's a wake-up call for the modern church as well. And we'd better be careful to point fingers, lest we find ourselves pointing fingers back at ourselves.

In the midst of all this righteous anger, Jesus makes a stunning announcement. It's the "Lenten" announcment that He Himself is the dwelling place, the "temple", of God; and He is about to be "torn down" only to be "built back up" again.

Come to church and watch the story unfold. See the righteous anger of God fall down on our perfect Savior in our stead. His death means our forgiveness...and our life.

Pray for our church, that each and every member would be pure in their motivation to and for worship! Bring others to worship at Mt. Calvary, where they will watch their Savior carry the cross for them! Tell others about Jesus, who is angry when people are blocked from seeing Him, being with Him, and coming to Him!
