Rock-Solid Confession

What does it mean to you that Jesus is the "Messiah"? When Jesus asked the disciples, "Who do you say that I am?", Peter responded by saying: "You are the Christ (Messiah), the Son of the living God." For Peter that meant he believed that Jesus was God's King, come to replace the rulers of the world and bring God's peace and justice to the world. After the crucifixion and resurrection, Peter learned that Jesus was all that...and more: He was God's very Son who gave His life and rose again for the sins of the whole world. He now understood that Jesus was the One of whom the Psalms and Prophets had spoken. Jesus is our Prophet, Priest, and King. He has forgiven our sins and called us to new life in Him. That new life is often challenging. It means being "different" from the rest of the world. It means living the kind of life that the Ten Commandments describe. It means unashamedly confessing with our lips before others that Jesus is the (ours and theirs) Messiah. Jesus called this confession of Peter the "rock" on which He would build the church. Your confession, profession, witness, and example is also the "rock" upon which God builds His church...and our church...Mt. Calvary. Pray that all the members of Mt. Calvary would unashamedly proclaim to others, in their own personal and special way, that Jesus is the Messiah! Bring others to Sunday morning worship at Mt. Calvary so that they will receive the gifts of the King of Creation! Tell others about Jesus, the Messiah, who loves everyone! |
