This Sunday we begin a sermon series entitled: "Bringing Hope to the Heart of the City: Pray, Bring, Tell." The emphasis for this Sunday's sermon will be Prayer. How is your prayer life? Do you have a specific time set aside to pray? Do you keep a list of prayer concerns? Have you taken seriously our congregation's commitment to daily "pray for our church and for the lost"? Too often the cares, troubles, guilt, sin, and distractions of this world keep us from prayer. The devil does a great job of drawing our attention away from the object of our true devotion: Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. Therefore, God's Word is the perfect tool to use when we are distracted. It reminds us of our forgiveness, keeps our prayers within the will of God, and reminds us how faithful God is in answering our prayers. St. Paul encourages Timothy in this way: "I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all people" (1 Timothy 2:1).
Pray for Mt. Calvary, that each of us would daily pray for our church and for the lost! Bring others to church at Mt. Calvary, where they will be given the tool of prayer! Tell others about Jesus, the One who answers prayer! |
