A Little Red Poppy
By Pastor Eggebrecht @ 2:26 PM :: 308 Views :: 0 Comments :: Article Rating :: Pastors Message

Memorial Day weekend sure has come quickly this year, hasn't it?! I appreciate Memorial Day. A few years ago I made a donation to one of those V.F.W. guys standing outside of a grocery store. He gave me the traditional red poppy. I've had it wrapped around the rear view mirror of my car ever since.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate those guys...those "Veterans of Foreign Wars"...for all that they have done to provide for us our freedom in this, the greatest country in the world. That little red poppy is my little reminder every time I get in the car to appreciate the sacrifice of others.

I hope that this email is your "little red poppy" for the day...a way for you to remember the great, one and only sacrifice, that our Savior, Jesus, made for your sins and mine.

I also hope that it is a "little red poppy" reminding you that Memorial Day Weekend is a great weekend to come to church. Think of all the extra time you'll have for rest and relaxation on Monday. Take the time for SPIRITUAL rest and relaxation this SUNDAY!

Pray for Mt. Calvary, that each member would daily remember the great sacrifice of our Savior! Bring others to church this Memorial Day weekend, where they will hear of a Savior who "re-members" us...that is, makes us once again members of His Body, the Church! Tell others about the Savior who sacrifices His very life!
