It's Time

Years ago I gave up wearing watches. I couldn't stand having something tightly wrapped around my wrist. The watches I wore alwasy tended to get sweaty and stinky. Besides that, I began to notice that there was really no shortage of time pieces surrounding me no matter where I went. There are clocks in every hospital room. There's a clock in my car. My cell phone keeps perfect time. In fact, it's not uncommon for people with whom I have an appointment to be surprised that I always seem to be on time. I always felt it was important to be somewhere when you said you would be. All the "time pieces" in my world help me to be on time. In Sunday's Gospel Lesson you will hear Jesus say, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand." Though time is important in our society, far too often we feel as though our God isn't "on time" for us. It seems as though He isn't there just when we need Him most. There's an old African American saying: "He may not come when you want Him, but He's right on time." That saying speaks right to the topic of God's timing. It's HIS timing... and it's always perfect. When the fullness of time had come God sent His Son to die on a cross for our salvation. When the "Fullness of time" comes, God is there for YOU with HIs love, mercy, and grace. He promises!
Pray for our church, that every member would take advantage of God's "time" that He sets aside for us each Sunday morning. Bring others to worship at Mt. Calvary, where God will use that time to "seize that moment" in your friend, family, or neighbor's life. Tell others about Jesus, who is always right on time. |
