The Interruption of God

Two days before Christmas the church office was inundated with "interruptions" galore. Most, if not all, of them were legitimate interruptions by people who had specific needs. But it certainly made it difficult for Sherri, our church Administrative Assistant, and me to get some of the things finished that we needed to do for this week's Christmas services.
Mary and Joseph found God interrupting their "regularly scheduled programming" with a Message that was almost too good to be true. A Savior was to be born to THEM...to the WORLD! It certainly made life temporarily inconvenient for them, but it was an inconvenience that literally changed the course of history and brought salvation, life, and light into a world of sin and darkness.
Has God ever interrupted your life? Has He pointed out your sins and errors so that you could repent? Has He delivered a medical or spiritual miracle? Has He spoken to you with just the right word at just the right time? Thanks be to God that He "interrupted" our lives in Holy Baptism, joining HImself to us, forgiving our faults and failures, and gifting us with His perfect salvation!
Pray for our church, that we would welcome the "interruptions" of God. Bring others to worship at Mt. Calvary, so that they will be delighted by the wonderful "interruptions" of God. Tell others about Jesus, who "interrupted" His own reign as King of creation to bring salvation to all. |
