As Jesus rode into Jerusalem on that first Palm Sunday, different people had different ideas about who He was and what He was trying to accomplish. The Pharisees saw a threat: "Look how the whole world has gone after Him," they said. The great crowd was thrilled with Someone whom they thought would rescue them from the oppression of the Romans. The disciples had no clue as to what was going on. They were confused. No doubt there were many thoughts and feelings racing through the crowd that day.
It seems as though no one had a complete "picture" that day of who Jesus was and what He was about to accomplish.
Isn't the same true of our world today? There are certainly people with whom you regularly come into contact who do not yet have a complete picture of who Jesus is and what He has accomplished for her or his salvation.
The complete picture is this: Jesus is the King of Creation who has come into our world, born of the Virgin Mary, the perfect God-Man, who lived a perfect life in our stead, and died on the cross the death we deserve. He rose again from the dead, so that all those who believe in Him will as well. And He has sent His Holy Spirit to continue to do the things He did while He lived here on earth.
Come to church this Holy Week, beginning with our Palm Sunday services, to celebrate and receive His gifts.
Pray that our church would be a place where people come to know the true Jesus! Bring others to Holy Week services! Tell others about the One who IS our Servant-King! |
